Governor Markell Announces Sallie Mae to Relocate Company Headquarters to State
Governor Jack Markell and Secretary Alan Levin announced today that Sallie Mae, the nation’s leading provider of student loans and administrator of college savings plans, will relocate its corporate headquarters from Reston, Va to Delaware. The decision is expected to add a significant number of new jobs to Delaware’s workforce over the next five years.
ILC Secures DoD Contract, Creates Jobs
Governor Jack Markell joined Bill Wallach, president of ILC Dover, for an official ribbon-cutting to celebrate the company’s newly acquired U.S. Department of Defense contract and the partnerships that helped make it possible. The event was held at the company’s new manufacturing facility, located on Starlifter Avenue, where 70 people will be employed by the end of July 2010.
Company Relocates Headquarters to Delaware, Creates Jobs
Testing Machines Inc., a supplier of laboratory testing instrumentation, is relocating its headquarters and manufacturing operations from Long Island, New York to Delaware. Governor Jack Markell, Secretary Alan Levin and Secretary Collin O’Mara joined company executives to make the announcement today at their new 20,000-square-foot facility, located at 40 McCullough Drive in New Castle.

DEDO Awarded AmeriCorps VISTA Program Grant
The Delaware Economic Development Office was recently awarded a $90,585 AmeriCorps VISTA Program grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Dole Extends its Lease with the Port of Wilmington
Governor Jack Markell announced a multi million dollar land and warehouse lease extension between Dole Fresh Fruit Company and the Diamond State Port Corporation today that will keep Dole at the Port of Wilmington until 2025, securing 800 jobs in Delaware.
Manufacturing Company Awarded Loan; Creates Green Jobs in Delaware
Governor Jack Markell and Director Alan Levin joined the partners of PTM Manufacturing, LLC today to announce the company’s plan to launch a manufacturing headquarters in Delaware as it expands its line of cost-effective green energy ducting and insulation system products nationwide.The Delaware Economic Development Office awarded PTM Manufacturing a Delaware Strategic Fund loan in the amount of $645,000. The state’s investment is expected to help PTM create 23 new green jobs in its first year and up to a total of 67 jobs within three years.
